Region 16 Block of the Month 2021 week 40

Region 16 Block of the Month (or week) 2021

Green is one of the most common colours seen in nature and yet it isn’t one of the primary colours, only found by mixing yellow and blue. The British Isles have plenty of rainfall and a moderate temperature all year to give us a huge range of plants in a ‘thousand shades of green’.

Green is meant to imply safety, harmony, stability, reliability and is of course used widely by organisations concerned with the natural environment.

Many names for green come from plants such as fern, sage, olive, lime, moss, mint, forest. Two of my favourite greens are named after precious stones, Jade and Emerald.  One green which brings back memories of my early adult life is British Racing Green, the colour of my first car, an Austin Mini.
