Region 16 Block of the Month (or week) 2021

More Curves. I find curves endlessly fascinating, seeing how they make new shapes as they interlock and  overlap. In Britain most of our roads are curved, forming wonderful patterns on maps as they intersect. Also interesting to a geographer (me) are the shapes found within intersecting curves, the negative space. The curves of roads may be determined by the undulating, hilly or mountainous landscapes so the negative space may be a notable physical feature.

The shape created by two intersecting curved lines is seen as softer than geometric shapes created by straight lines. They are often used in advertising to create the softer image required for a particular product. When I doodle, a curve will appear on the paper, drawing them freehand is comes more naturally than drawing straight lines and the two images I am posting are the product of such doodles.
