Region 16 Block of the Month 2021 week 14

Region 16 Block of the Month (or week) 2021

Grids come in a vast array of patterns, are the lines narrow or broad, closely or widely spaced? Are they evenly or unevenly spaced? Is there a gap between lines or is there no background showing? Are the lines perpendicular producing a pattern of squares and rectangles or set at a different angle to produce diamonds or even triangles? Grids are everywhere in everyday life. I regularly see a grid of yellow lines at road junctions, do drivers ever ‘leave the yellow box clear’? Traditional quilts are usually grids, with each square filled by an interesting block. A grid in regular use in my kitchen is a wire cooling rack. Weaving produces a tightly knit grid of warp and weft. Where do your thoughts on grids take you?
